The Lion King
This adaptation of the animated Disney film was the winner of 6 Tony awards
in 1998 including Best Musical, Choreography and Direction. Directed by
Julie Taymor, this production uses puppetry, costumes and a cast of 46 to
tell the story of Simba, the baby lion that grows up to be king of the
jungle. It’s terrific for children and parents alike. The quality of the
play took both audience and critics by surprise. This is not merely a
camped-up version of the movie, but rather a very dramatic and
spellbinding interpretation of the Disney film that stands alone.
